Chosen book critique

"Two things you must know. One, you were chosen at birth to save humanity. Two, you will certainly die." Chosen, a fantasy novel for young adults by Ted Dekker is full of action.
The main characters are four teens named Johnis, Billios, Silvie, and Darsal. They are sent on a dangerous mission to recover the seven lost books of history. The story is continued through six books in the series. Each novel contains a major turning point in the fabulous tale. the main ideas are courage and good versus evil.
The author had strengths and weaknessess. One strength is how Dekker fills Chosen with action and cliffhangers. But, he also has a weakness. One example is the introduction has no background of the characters and only a background about their world, wich makes the book difficult to interpret. This shows even a wonderful author makes mistakes.
I thought this novel was very good. I am an action lover, so Chosen naturally appeals to me.It would also appeal to any fun loving child who loves to read. Chosen is full of fighting, so most boys would find it interesting. The audience should be any kid to a young adult.
In Chosen, four teens battle for fate. I loved this book, and anybody else would too. The genre is fantsy. Chosen was written for and adolecent audience. I adored Chosen, and any other reader will too.

  1. Love the squirrel picture. I had two, too, when I was a boy, but I never dressed them up.

It's so important to draw attention to reading, and attract reluctant readers to it,especially boys. In fact, I've recently completed a feature magazine article on this subject that came out in October, "Help for Struggling, Reluctant Readers."

I grew up as a reluctant reader, in spite of the fact that my father published over 70 books. Now I write action-adventures & mysteries, especially for tween boys, that avid boy readers and girls enjoy just as much.

My blog, Books for Boys http://booksandboys.blogspot.com is dedicated to drawing attention to the importance of reading. And my new book, Lost Island Smugglers - first in the Sam Butler Adventure Series - is coming out in June.

    Keep up your good work.
